SpongeBob SquarePants franchise opted to release their 3rd film on live streaming medium rather than waiting for cinemas to be reopened

According to Variety, SpongeBob We all know this animated character very well, many of us was used to be the fan of this animated series on Nickelodeon. Now this series was going to make its debut on movie theaters but due to COVID-19 pandemic the creators are going to making its premiere to On Demand and CBS All Access streaming in early 2021.

The previous date for the making the debut on the movie on big screen was 22nd of May, meanwhile the COVID-19 pandemic occurred causing the delay in the release and the new date announced was 7th of August.

The movie is focusing on saving of SpongeBob’s pet snail who have got stuck somewhere in the Lost City of Atlantic, it is therefore SpongeBob SquarePants and his friend Patrick Star leave their home and start heading towards rescuing Spongebob’s Pet.

It is going to be the 3rd film of the SpongeBob SqurePants franchise, previously they have released the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water in 2004 and 2015 respectively.

The movie is in the queue with some high profile projects like Trolls World Tour, The King of Staten Island, Scoob and Atemis Fowl who has selected the option to be released sooner with streaming through On Demand rather than waiting for the pandemic to end.

Universal Studios said in April that, Trolls World Tour scored $100 million in its first three weeks of rentals was booked with nearly five million rentals.

The original film, produced with a $125 million budget, grossed $153.7 million domestically and $346.9 million worldwide.

Regardless the option adopted by some studios to rent new films out to audiences, last week it was announced that the movie theaters are going to be opened on 10th of July starting with Regal Cinemas with majority of theaters will be reopened.  

On 15th of July most of our theaters would open most of our locations, announced by AMC Theaters The resuming of the theaters is going to take place at the time when major movies was going to be  released like Disney’s live-action Mulan, and Christopher Nolan’s Tenet releasing on 24th and 31st of July respectively.
